The Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Tuesday the appointment of Jill Boggs as the new executive director.
Boggs was named to helm the Warsaw-based tourism organization after the resignation of former Director Mary Kittrell in May. Boggs comes to the Kosciusko visitors bureau with experience directing university marketing and a city chamber of commerce.
In her new role, Boggs will be responsible for providing management of daily operations, public relations and visitor services, according to the announcement. She will also provide leadership in promoting Kosciusko County tourism by devising tourist development initiatives and campaigns with the aim of generating revenue and increasing the economic impact to the county.
With years of work experience in a tourism destination, in non-profit management and as a marketing professional, Boggs will bring a variety of relevant skills to the position, the announcement states.
“Jill brings a wealth of skills and experience to the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau. I am confident that she will be an incredible asset to not only the Convention and Visitors Bureau but to the community”, said Erin Rowland, board chair, in the announcement.
Boggs recently completed a career with Trine University as chief marketing officer/assistant vice president for the Office of University Marketing and Communications. The department’s efforts assisted in consistent annual enrollment growth. Boggs also managed the 2008 university name change initiative.
As a previous executive director of the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce, she and organization volunteers grew membership and programming, earning recognition as Indiana Chamber of the Year, according to information from the KCCVB. She also was instrumentally involved in initiating and implementing the creation of the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation.
In explaining what she would like to accomplish, Boggs said in the announcement, “I want groups and individuals outside the county, as well as local residents, to know about all the many different qualities and features that Kosciusko County has to offer. Each vibrant community is unique and collectively we contribute to the overall exemplary image and attraction of the county. My goal is to raise awareness of all the experiences visitors and groups can have. To work alongside community leaders and investors to enhance visibility with the goal of acquiring those invaluable visits for economic vitality.”
Boggs, a graduate of Ball State University with a degree in social work and Indiana Wesleyan University with a master of science degree in management, currently lives in Chain O’Lakes State Park in Albion, where her husband, Samuel, is the park manager.
