An area state trooper is being honored as he has now arrested 1,000 drivers for driving under the influence.
Master Trooper Mick Dockery, who works out of the state police post in Bremen with primary patrols in Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties, recently hit that milestone arrest. Dockery began his career in December of 1999, and his primary detail is to be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers.
Dockery said in a release on Tuesday that it isn’t about the number of arrests he made, but it’s about “keeping the community safe.” According to NHTSA data, nearly 30 people die each day on U.S. roadways because of drunk driving crashes.
