ELKHART AND KOSCIUSKO COUNTIES – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that bridge maintenance is scheduled to begin on S.R. 15, in various locations within Elkhart and Kosciusko counties, on Thursday, Sept. 8, weather permitting.
Work will include bridge joint and bridge deck repairs in the following locations:
- S.R 15 over the CSX Railroad tracks in Kosciusko County, between C.R. W 1350 N and the Kosciusko/Elkhart County line
- S.R. 15 over Whitehead Ditch in Elkhart County, between Carter Lane and C.R. 146
- S.R. 15 over the Little Elkhart River in Elkhart County, between S.R. 120 and Twin River Trail
Motorists can expect the road to be reduced to one lane in each direction while contractors complete the bridge repairs. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through an active construction zone.
Work on the S.R. 15 bridges is expected to be complete by late October, weather permitting. The repair of the S.R. 15 bridges is being done in combination with bridge repair on several bridges across the Fort Wayne District. The $617,000 combined contract was awarded to Northern Indiana Construction.
