WARSAW — Kosciusko County’s largest bridge is in need of replacement.
The bridge, which spans the Eel River, is located in the far southeast corner of the county on CR 700E just south of a jog along CR 1150 and west of South Whitley.
Highway superintendent Steve Moriarty tells News Now Warsaw that the county recently received confirmation that the county has received $3.9 million in federal funding for the project that will eventually cost more than $5.4 million.
More assistance is expected for right-of-way costs, but Moriarty said confirmation about the federal support is huge. He said the project would not happen without federal support.
The estimated local $1.2 million will come from the cumulative bridge fund
Construction won’t begin until 2028, though.
