Staff Report

WARSAW — For the first time ever, the Warsaw football team will play for a football state championship Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Warsaw will play Decatur Central for the 5A championship at 7 p.m.

A chance to compete in the state championship came after Warsaw shut down Merrillville Friday night in the second half with a final score of 31-14.

The Tigers have now defeated the No. 1, 2 and 3 teams in the state’s 5A division.

Warsaw schools have organized transportation options for fans.

A fan bus will be available. While there is no cost for riding the bus, fans will still need to purchase their own ticket for the game.

To reserve a seat, call the main office at Warsaw High School.

Game tickets are available at the IHSAA website–www.ihsaa.org

Registration for the bus trip is required by noon Tuesday. The bus will leave from the PAC at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A student fan bus is also being organized through the athletic department.
