Formal charges, in connection with a double homicide in Ligonier, have been announced. Noble County Prosecutor Eric Blackman says he will file the following charges Friday morning:
Michael Jerome Johnson:
Count I: Murder While Committing Robbery
Count II: Murder While Committing Robbery
Count III: Attempted Murder While Committing Robbery
Tiffani Elaine Cox:
Count I: Aiding in Armed Robbery, Level 3 Felony
Kyra Justine Frost:
Count I: Aiding in Armed Robbery, Level 3 Felony
All three subjects are believed to have been living together in Fort Wayne.
Court documents say Johnson, 35, told investigators he shot Justin Adams, 30, and Amanda Feldstein, 39, Monday night at an apartment complex in Ligonier. Johnson, along with Cox, 30, and Frost, 25, were trying to get a Prada purse worth nearly $10,000 under the guise of conducting a drug deal. Johnson was arrested following a vehicle chase and the women are also in jail.
Indiana State Police technicians executed a search warrant of Johnson’s vehicle and found a cell phone and some hypodermic needles, along with several purses and handbags inside the car.
“At this time, we have enough information to bring these charges. The case remains active, and additional charges could be filed. Law enforcement is working diligently to try to locate the suspected murder weapon. Although it would not be necessary for prosecuting the case, we want it recovered for safety’s sake, especially if it may have been abandoned or discarded,” said Prosecutor Eric Blackman, adding “if anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Ligonier Police Department.”
A press conference is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, at the Ligonier Police Department.
