A Churubusco man is in jail after leading police on a chase from Warsaw to Whitley County on Sunday.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department incident report says the pursuit ended after the suspect’s car had mechanical problems.
At about 3 a.m. Sunday, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy saw a black Ford Fusion traveling west on C.R. 225E at 58 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer got his vehicle behind the Fusion and activated his sirens and lights.
The Fusion did not stop, but instead turned on Kosciusko Drive, ran a red light at the intersection of Center Street and U.S. 30, continued west on Center Street and continued through several intersections as it made its way on to Kings Highway and Pierceton Road.
At some point the vehicle ended up on Ind. 14 and continued east, according to a KCSD report.
The car then entered Whitley County and began having mechanical issues. Police then used Stop Sticks to get the vehicle to stop.
Drugs and drug paraphernalia allegedly were found on the driver, 26-year-old Cody Lee Bade.
He was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:37 a.m. Sunday for resisting law enforcement with use of a vehicle, driving while suspended with a prior, reckless driving, possession of paraphernalia – misdemeanor, failure to comply and possession of meth. His preliminary bond was set at $10,500.
Assisting KCSD were the Winona Lake and Warsaw police.
