WARSAW — A chemical reaction led to the evacuation and temporary closing of the Walmart store in Warsaw Friday afternoon.

Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Fire Chief Joel Shilling said the incident happened around 1:15 p.m. and was initially thought to be an electrical fire.

Crews arrived and then discovered the smoke was created by a chemical reaction in two areas somewhere close to the automotive section.

Shilling did not sway what type of chemicals were involved.

Crews ushed a large-scale fan to ventilate the building before workers and customers were allowed back inside.

No injuries were reported.
