On March 19, chess teams from Warsaw Community Schools brought home five trophies from the Indiana Chess Team State Finals in Hammond. In the third-grade and under division, Eisenhower placed eighth, Lincoln seventh and Washington sixth. In the sixth-grace and under division, Washington placed sixth. In the eighth-grade and under division, Edgewood placed sixth. There were a total of 31 teams in the eighth-grade and under division; 42 in the sixth and under competition; and 54 in the third and under division. The clubs have been led by the tutelage of Jay Bolduc, Washington and Madison; Olivia Eppley and Mel Oliver, Lincoln; Sam Wyson, Edgewood; Shirley Fleming and Henry Zehr, Eisenhower; as well as numerous parents volunteers.
