A little after 5 am this morning, emergency crews were called to a farm on W. Crystal Lake Rd due to a barn being on fire. According to firefighters on scene, the chicken barn was seen fully engulfed by a driver going past the farm this morning. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but according to what the owner told firefighters, they had approximately 65,000 chickens in the barn. It's unknown at this time what caused the fire, but an investigation will continue to determine the cause.
