As part of what seems to be a national trend, a statue in Mishawaka has been defaced.
WNDU reports the Christopher Columbus statue in Central Park is covered in pink paint.
Police say they found the vandalism Friday and are now looking at park surveillance video to see if the vandal was caught on camera.
City leaders say they’ll have to pay to have a professional come clean the paint off the statue.
Police say its the first time the Central Park monument to Columbus has been targeted since it was brought to Mishawaka in 1992.
In the past month, several Columbus monuments around the U.S. have been defaced.
