WARSAW — If you attended Tuesday’s Warsaw City Council meeting or watched online, you might have caught the very end when time was set aside for public input.
It was then that a representative of a firm from South Bend approached the podium, introduced himself and then spoke about the excitement about plans for a future roundabout at the corner of Anchorage Road and Biomet Drive.
He expressed the hopes the company could be involved in the project.
That location is just north of US 30 and near a Zimmer Biomet production plant.
Problem is, that project is not happening.
Two officials for the Warsaw city plan office said there are no plans for a roundabout for that intersection.
While the intersection is busy, City Planner Justin Taylor said such a plan would likely run into opposition at the state level because of its close proximity to US 30.
While Anchorage crosses US 30, it officially becomes known as East CR 200N just north of the highway.
The city has been laying the groundwork to widen Ancorage Road betweeen US 30 and SR 15 for several years.
