WARSAW — Lingering concerns about the sounds emnating from pickleball courts at Kelly Park – at least from one nearby resident – has led the city to hire a sound expert.

The park board recommended the city hire Pickleball Sound Mitigation at the cost of $1,100 to provide an assessment of the amount of noise generated by the increasingly popular game.

Superintendent Larry Plummer presented the proposal to the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety on Friday, which approved the plan.

“The proposal would give us a professional opinion as to the need, if any, and the need, if any, for some mitigation at the courts,” Plummer said.

City council member Diane Quance, who sat in on some of the discussions with the park board meetings, applauded the move and called it “a good sound management practice.”

Mayor Jeff Grose said he appreciated the effort to review the issue.
