It will be months before the sentencing hearing for Life Without Parole begins for a man convicted of murdering his brother and sister-in-law in their Mishawaka home. The mitigation expert for Steven Clippinger appeared in court for a status hearing on Tuesdday as the defense requested additional time to prepare their case. The judge granted the request and with that, the hearing was continued until mid-January. The actual mitigation phase of the Life Without Parole hearing would then begin sometime between mid-February and early March. Clippinger shot and killed the couple bac in June of 2012. His former girlfriend was sentenced to 12 years in prison, as she gave him the gun and drove the getaway vehicle.
