A northern Indiana judge will consider a shorter sentence for a man who was 15 years old when he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his stepfather.
A Kosciusko County judge will hear Colt Lundy’s request for a sentence modification on Thursday.
Authorities say Lundy and 12-year-old friend Paul Gingerich shot Philip Danner in his Cromwell home in 2010. Both boys pleaded guilty as adults to conspiracy to commit murder, and both were sentenced to 25 years.
Authorities said the shooting was part of a plan to run away to California or Arizona. Gingerich was released from prison last year after he was resentenced under “Paul’s Law,” a 2013 law named after him that allows juveniles who commit serious crimes to receive alternative sentences.
Lundy is now 23.
