Indiana Congressman Jim Banks (R-3) says the “process is broken” when it comes to the stalemate in the U.S. Senate over a spending bill and President Trump’s request for funding to build a border wall with Mexico.
“Republicans have frankly failed the last couple of years by not giving him more funding at the wall,” says Rep. Banks.
“This is our last chance . Nancy Pelosi takes over the Congress that will make it even harder to get this particular campaign promise accomplished,” says Congressman Banks.
Banks says he stands behind President Trump and his demand for $5 billion dollars in funding to build the wall.
“That’s what this President does. He’s bold, he’s keeping his campaign promises, and in this case, when it comes to building a wall, boosting border security, he’s done exactly that,” Rep. Banks says.
Banks also says Trump’s recent trip to Iraq will help the President have a better understanding of what U.S. troops and their commanders are facing in the war against ISIS and other terror groups.
“I imagine that learned and saw things that he hadn’t seen before, which is good for him as Commander-in-Chief,” says Banks.
In November, Congressman Banks called on President Trump to visit Afghanistan after Banks made his own visit as part of a Congressional delegation. After his return, Rep. Banks called the situation in Afghanistan “worse than thought.”
Banks served in Afghanistan as an officer in the Navy Reserve in 2014 and 2015.
