3:39 p.m. update: Walorski has accepted Hall’s challenge to debate him in three televised debates, according to the South Bend Tribune.
“I have always believed debates are a vital part of the democratic process, and I welcome the opportunity to discuss the issues that matter most to Hoosier families,” Walorski said in the statement. “I’m certain our campaign teams will be in touch in the coming weeks and months to work out the details of these three debates.”
Our earlier story…
Congresswoman Jackie Walorski’s democratic challenger in November is calling on her to debate him.
2nd District Democratic nominee Mel Hall has “publicly and formally” called on Walorski to accept a series of three televised debates.
In a letter sent to Walorski, he also reminded her of her call for six debates with then-Congressman Joe Donnelly in 2010.
Walorski was hounded by her 2016 Democratic challenger Lynn Coleman to debate, only for Walorski to accept one radio debate in the far southeastern corner of her district in Wabash.
In his letter, Hall called on Walorski to show “accountable leadership” in accepting the debates.
