A Kosciusko County officer has been honored for a lake rescue this summer.
The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators are giving Kosciusko Lake Patrol Officer Ken Troutman their national recognition award for helping rescue seven boaters on Lake Wawasee this summer.
The boat was reportedly overloaded and had capsized when Troutman ordered them to stop. Troutman was then joined by Indiana Conservation Officers Jon Boyd and Dustin Whitehead in getting the boaters out of the water. Only one was wearing a life-jacket.
Even though the man driving the boat was ticketed for boating while intoxicated, all seven people were fine.
