WARSAW — Organizers are finalizing plans to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday in Warsaw.
The event At the new Courthouse Coffee on Buffalo Street in Warsaw starts at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 8.
Organizers for the event are Sarah Strayhan Lenfesty and Travis McConnell.
Local supporters of the holiday had to scurry after the annual luncheon in Winona Lake was unexpectedly canceled.
Strayhan Lenfesty is looking forward to Monday’s celebration which will include music, finger foods a speech by Joe Banks, who started the luncheon tradition 34 years ago.
She said she was shocked to learn the annual luncheon had been canceled last week but is hopeful a new tradition will be established.
“I know for myself personally, I would like to move forward with making sure there will always be an event for our community,” she said.
