Local Ted Cruz supporters will be working to get the vote out for the Republican presidential candidate over the next two weeks.
At 2 p.m. the next two Sundays, there will be a sign wave for Cruz on the corners at the intersection of Detroit and Center streets, according to Teresa Martin, Kosciusko chair for Cruz’s campaign. Depending how many people show up, she said they will then spread out to other nearby street corners, and the event should last about 45 minutes.
After the sign wave, supporters then will go door to door to campaign for Cruz.
Martin said she will have signs there, but supporters are welcome to bring their own homemade signs as well. She will supply Cruz for President yard signs that supporters can take home with them.
She said an active door-to-door campaign for Cruz has already started.
While she sent an email out to her group regarding Sunday’s sign wave, she said she wasn’t sure how many people would show up.
“In a grassroots effort, you just don’t know how many people will show up,” she said.
For those who come out, she said, “Just come with energy and smiles and we’re going to get the message out.”
If a person can’t walk, Martin said they also can use drivers or people to make phone calls from home.
Friday night, she said they will be meeting with Heidi Cruz, Ted’s wife, in Fort Wayne. Anyone interested in that event should contact Martin.
