David Allen Mann of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at his home surrounded by family at 11:46 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the age of 75. David NEVER doubted God’s plan for his life and he always kept a positive attitude throughout his hard-fought battle with cancer. He is now whole again with his Lord and Savior.
He was born in Warsaw, Indiana on October 19, 1945 to Jack Edgar Mann and Treva Nadine (Rydquist) Mann. He lived his entire life in Kosciusko County, Indiana and was a 1963 graduate of Warsaw High School. Like many of his fellow classmates he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 and proudly served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP 5 (T) on August 25, 1967.
David settled back home and one day God saw fit to have him meet the love of his life, Debra Ann Levernier. He married her on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1970 and spent his life taking great care of and adoring Debra. They raised two children, were overjoyed at becoming grandparents, and shared all of life’s ups and downs throughout their 51 years of marriage together before he passed.
After high school, David worked as an apprentice at Sun Metal as a tool and die maker for four years, he provided for his family working at Zimmer Inc. in Warsaw as a tool and die maker for many years, he later worked at Royal Crown in Milford, Indiana where he retired in 2005. When he wasn’t working, he loved tinkering in the garage, relished being outdoors simply doing yardwork, loved hunting and fishing. Most of all David loved his Lord, God was ALWAYS first and family second. He dearly loved his family and would do anything for them. David was a selfless man and was known as the Mayor of his neighborhood where he could be found on a number of days helping a neighbor out with their mowing and yard work, or helping to shovel snow. He enjoyed attending Warsaw Community Church with his family where he liked to volunteer his time to help mow and welcoming his fellow church family members as a greeter before services. David also volunteered at the Beaman Home for many years, his heart always had room to serve and help others.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many. David would most want to be remembered for his faith in his Savior Jesus Christ and will forever be dearly loved and missed by his family and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Debra Mann (Warsaw, Indiana); son: Tyrone “Ty” (Mary Ellen) Mann (Centennial, Colorado); and his daughter: Monica Purdy (Bradenton, Florida). He also leaves behind his four favorite grandchildren: Jackson and Preston Mann; Gavyn and Isabella Purdy; mother: Treva Nadine Mann (Warsaw, Indiana); brother: Ken (Diana) Mann (Warsaw, Indiana); and of course, Oakely the Dog! He was preceded in death by his father and one infant son.
