Authorities in Elkhart County are investigating a deadly motorcyclist vs vehicle crash. Emergency crews were called to Old U.S. 20 between County Road 13 and County Road 15 late Sunday morning. Witnesses told police the motorcyclist, identified as 42 yera-old Jason Espinoza of Elkhart, was traveling at a high rate of speed, as fast as 80 miles per hour, passing vehicles, when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line, and struck a sedan driven by an Elkhart woman. Espinoza was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not to be wearing a helmet. The driver of the car suffered only minor scrapes.
