Douglas Spears, 79, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away Peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Warsaw Millers Merry Manor.
Born on May 10, 1942 in Floyd County, Kentucky, Doug was the son of Ira and Pearl (Sluss) Spears. He was united in marriage to Velma (Albertson) Goshert on April 21,1997 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky who preceded him February 6, 2010. He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw.
Doug moved to Kosciusko County in 1963. He was formally employed by Dalton Foundries from 1966 to 2004, after 39 years.
He was formally a member of Living Hope Church, Warsaw currently he was attending First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County. Doug enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, and tinkering on old vehicles with his brothers.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Michelle (Doug) Mayhew of Claypool, and
Rhonda Avery (Randy Loper) , Winchester; 3 Sisters, Irene (Bill) Coons and Virgie Spears, Kentucky, and Goldie (Mike) Moore, Wabash; 4 Brothers; Glen (Sonia) Spears, Kokomo, James “Ebby” Spears, Kentucky, Johnny (Chris) Spears and Jimmy Spears of Wabash; 2 grandchildren Katie Avery, Warsaw and Brodie Avery, Winchester. Fur babies, PeeWee and Sissy. He was preceded in passing by his wife Velma Spears, Seven brothers and sisters.
A visitation is planned from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service in celebration of his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. also on Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Wedstel Shepherd be officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Masks are optional, and social distancing is encouraged. No food is permitted at this time.
