Two businesses celebrated openings in downtown Warsaw on Friday.
Reecer Properties Inc., a real estate office, opened at 109 E. Market St. with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m.; while Books, Wine and Dogs, 101 E Center St., had a ribbon cutting late Friday afternoon.
Books, Wine And Dogs
Books, Wine and Dogs is on the northeast corner of Buffalo and Center streets and across from the Kosciusko County Courthouse.
Owner Michelle Stavrou said she came up with the idea of the unique business mix on her own. “I thought of three things that make me happy,” Stavrou said.
The store, which has been renovated significantly, features seating on three levels.
On Friday, Stavrou’s two Shih Tzu terriers, Lily and Lola, looked comfortable wandering around during an open house after the ribbon cutting.
Stavrou said they plan to feature rescue dogs that are available for adoption on certain days.
She said classifying the store as a wine cafe allows families to bring kids along. “I thought that rescue dogs would have a better chance of being adopted if kids would come in and see them also,” she said.
Saturday, the cafe hosted a children’s author, two rescue dogs, a romance author, jazz music and a wine-tasting event.
The business will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. Sundays will be reserved for private events. The store’s business phone is 574-306-2400.
Reecer Properties
For Reecer Properties, Warsaw is the company’s fifth office.
The company opened its first office in 2010. Other offices are in Fort Wayne, Roanoke and Syracuse. Friday’s opening marks the third opening in three years, according to Donna Del Priore, the company’s marketing manager.
The entry into the Warsaw market helps the company cover all of Kosciusko County, said owner Lynn Reecer.
The company views itself as a local full-service boutique real estate company, Del Priore said. The company has 14 licensed agents and uses transaction coordinators, which allows the real estate agents to focus more closely on customers, Del Priore said.
Julie Seiss is the Warsaw branch manager. The office can be reached by calling 574-527-4209.
