The St. Joseph County Traffic Safety Partnership will be setting up sobriety checkpoints around St. Joseph County to deter, detect and arrest those drivers who make the decision to drive impaired. Checkpoints will be conducted, Friday night, August 1st and Saturday night, August 2nd. The checkpoint will be between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The checkpoint will be conducted on the northeast side of South Bend southwest side of Mishawaka. Officers working the sobriety checkpoints are working overtime which is paid by grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the Indiana Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving.
