An Indianapolis man faces robbery charges alleging that he robbed an 86-year-old man nearly 30 times in a single month. Police say 50-year-old Robert Amonette knew his alleged victim. Court records say Amonette is accused of tailing the elderly man through his neighborhood and then driving the victim to the bank more than two dozen times in October and forcing him to withdraw money. He faces the armed robbery charge because he allegedly brought a handgun on one occasion. Prosecutors say this sad tale should serve as a lesson for family, friends and neighbors need to talk to elderly residents about their safety because older people are often targeted “by criminals preying on their isolation.”
