WARSAW — Sheriff Jim Smith and Sgt. Doug Light presented Elise Kruger, from Warsaw Community High School, with the 2023 Phillip D. Hochstetler Scholarship Award Tuesday evening.
The Phillip D. Hochstetler scholarship fund was established by the KCSO, to honor Det/Sgt Phil Hochstetler, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on June 29, 1994. Det/Sgt Hochstetler was continuing his education by pursuing a college degree in criminal justice at the time of his passing.
The purpose of the scholarship fund is to provide a deserving senior from Kosciusko County, who is pursuing a degree in criminal justice, needed assistance to achieve their degree.
