The Elkhart County 4-H Fair has brought home several awards from the Indiana Association of Fairs and Festivals and an agricultural award from the International Association of Fairs and Festivals.
A 2018 fair favorite, Daisy Redhawk and her display inside Young MacDonald’s Farm this past summer earned first place from the international organization for a “program/event/exhibit designed to educate consumers/fair-going public of a current agricultural or Fair industry challenge.” During the fair, visitors were able to not only see and pet Daisy, but learn about how her genetic condition led to her having deformed leg bones and only one digit on each hoof and how Goshen High School science and engineering students were helping to solve her challenges.
At the state level, the Elkhart County 4-H Fair won first place awards for a photo album, an event-related photo series, and an advertising material. The fair was also second place for an event photo and third place in the webpage, collectible/commemorative item, and printed promotional material categories.
