Elkhart County Sheriff’s officers issued tickets to nearly two dozen underage people they say they found drinking at a party at a home in the 29000 block of County Road 52.
Upon arrival, on Saturday, Jan. 5, officers found 41 individuals under the age of 21.
Twenty of these individuals were under the age of 18 and released to their parents, while the remaining 21 individuals that were over the age of 18 but under the age of 21, were issued tickets for Illegal Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages, and released at the scene.
Those subjects who were cited and released were David D. Yoder (20) of Middlebury; Lyndon D. Byler (20) of Goshen; Brian Borkholder (19) of Bremen; Marion J. Otto (19) Arcola, IL; Aaron J. Miller (19) of Nappanee; Erica D Fry (19) of Shipshewana; Sarahann A. Schrock (19) of Goshen; Suzanna R. Borkholder (19) of Wakarusa; Dorcas R. Plank (19) of Bremen; Eric A. Yoder (18) of Nappanee; Lamar J. Slabaugh (18) of Nappanee; Thomas A. Borkholder (18) of Bremen; Deandre Hochstetler (18) of Bremen; Toby Detweiler (18) of Shipshewana; Freeman Yoder Jr. (18) of Ligonier; Lyndon J. Bontrager (18) of Nappanee; Eric D. Hochstetler (18) of Nappanee; Dora S. Slabaugh (18) of Etna Green; Jeremy D. Yoder (18) of Middlebury; Isaac R. Miller (18) of Middlebury; and Matthew J. Chupp (18) of Nappanee.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were taken to the Goshen Hospital for treatment due to consuming excessive alcohol. Officers and EMS personnel removed several individuals from cold vehicles that were passed out.
The person who was found to be hosting the party, Mervin Dale Miller, 25, was taken to the Elkhart County Jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was also cited for a noise ordinance violation.
