An area man faces four felony charges in connection to a reported rape in Elkhart. According to court documents, the victim told Elkhart police that 27 year-old Christopher Allen Erwin contacted her last fall and asked if he could stay at her home because his relationship with the mother of his children was “volatile.” The victim agreed to let him spend the night. The next morning, he became angry when he learned she was in a relationship with someone else. She said he began to strangle her and asked for sex. She initially refused, according to the court report, but eventually agreed because she was afraid he would hurt her or her children who were in the home at the time. Erwin was arrested on charges of rape, battery causing bodily injury, domestic battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation. His bond is set at $250,000.
