The topic of Etna Township no longer paying for library cards for township residents was discussed during Etna Green’s town council meeting Tuesday.
Etna Township had for 28 years been paying for 100 library cards for township residents from the Bourbon Public Library. The library was informed the township will not renew the contract effective Jan. 1. Township residents will now have to pay $55 for library cards.
The Church of Christ and Etna Green United Methodist Church suggested the town buying library cards for town residents, said Clerk-Treasurer Patti Cook. The churches said they would buy library cards for township residents.
The issue was tabled until March’s meeting. In other news, Etna Green Fire Chief Randall Byrer requested an executive session with the township trustee, town council members and the town attorney regarding the township fire contract.
