Everett Golson has reclaimed the job as Notre Dame's starting quarterback after missing last season because of academic impropriety. Coach Brian Kelly says Golson will start against Rice on Aug. 30th and he hopes he'll be the starter for the season. Kelly cited Golson's overall understanding of the offense, how he's handled himself with the team and his leadership skills. Golson hasn't played for the Irish since a 42-14 loss to Alabama in the national championship game two seasons ago. Golson says he feels a heightened responsibility, saying it's his job to make sure the offense is running smoothly.
