“There’s so much to talk about,” Mayor Joe Thallemer says, when first asked about the upcoming State of the City address.
“I’ve centered some of my comments around some discussion I was able to spend a little time with the Governor and we were able to talk about some of these issues,” he tells News Now Warsaw’s IN the Know.
Some expected topics are:
- Upcoming road projects
- Addressing concerns about U.S. 30
- The Buffalo Street project
- Issues with housing
- Child care / workforce
Mayor Thallemer will also discuss some of the accomplishments for the city in 2017.
“It should be a pretty good review,” he says. “We’ve been able to hold our taxes and even drop them a small amount. We don’t have any garbage fees, our utility fees– even with our last hike– are still some of the lowest in the state.”
The message, Thallemer says, is that the city is getting great things done while still watching the money and trying to address transportation challenges.
“We’ve done some great thing with our Council, with our appropriations, and keeping our tax rate responsible for our citizens,” he tells IN the Know.
