Work is set to begin on the north-south runway at the Warsaw Airport.
Talks of the project were discussed at Tuesday’s Board of Aviation Commissioners after the Federal Aviation Administration awarded Warsaw just over $1.9 million for runway rehabilitation. A pre-construction meeting was held back in August with the contractor to get ready for the project according to Project Manager with CHA Mary Kerstein, who is contracted by the airport.
Kerstein said the contractor, Phend and Brown, wants to get the work done this fall and is ready to go. She continued that they are just waiting on receiving the grant before they start the project.
Painting of the runway would be the last part of the project, but that has to be done with warmer weather.
