Firefighters in LaGrange spent hours battling a blaze that spread from Family Dollar to embroidery business Gould Sports Tuesday afternoon.
WNDU reports both downtown businesses burned to the ground. Officials say the water and manpower did stop the flames from consuming a third business.
Because so much water was used, the municipal water system is nearly dry, and LaGrange residents are under a boil water advisory until further notice.
The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in the basement of the Family Dollar.
