TIMES UNION REPORTS – A fashion show, self-help booths, motorcycles and a K9 demonstration are all part of September’s First Friday.
First Friday, with a theme of “Celebrating a Community of Hope,” is 5 to 8 p.m. downtown Warsaw on the courthouse square. It’s free and brought to the public by First Friday and Fellowship Missions.
Paula Bowman, First Friday coordinator, said some of the booths will be Fellowship Missions’ addiction recovery hub, a parents of addicts booth and more.
Kids can enjoy the inflatables. Emergency personnel will be on hand for a meet-and-greet. At 6:15 p.m., there will be a K9 demonstration on the courthouse lawn.
The fashion show starts at 6:30 p.m. at center stage, featuring some of the downtown boutiques. Models from Glam, Elysian, Meraki, Male Fashions and Brooch Boutique will be showing off new looks for school or for a night out.
The Christian Motorcycle Association will ride in at 6 p.m. They will park downtown so anyone who wants to chat with them can, Bowman said.
A DJ will be providing music all evening.
“It all should be fun!” Bowman said.
Next month, the theme for October’s First Friday will be “Art-tober.”
Downtown Spooktacular is 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29.
November’s will be “Carnival of Giving” and the public will be asked to help out local food pantries. There will be games available and the largest mini-carnival in the state will be on hand.
December is the annual “Hometown Holly Days” with the twinkle light parade and carriage rides.
The large Christmas tree lighting will be Nov. 28 with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, Mayor Joe Thallemer and the radio station handing out tickets for the Ornament Smash.
