The region’s first lake effect snowstorm of the season is set to begin tonight, but much of Kosciusko County is on the southern fringe and not expected to see any accumulation.
Counties north of Kosciusko County will be under a winter weather advisory beginning early today and could see 3 to 6 inches of snow from today to Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
The online forecast for Warsaw shows a 30 percent chance of snow showers, but there is no mention of any accumulation. The chance of snow on Friday is 30 percent.
St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties are facing 70 and 80 percent chances of snow over the next two days.
The chance of snow arrives with cold temperatures through the weekend. Tonight’s low in Warsaw is expected to be near 21.
Today’s high will be 24 and the low will fall to about 21, the weather service said.
NWS predicts a stronger chance of snow in Warsaw will begin late Saturday night and into Sunday.
