WARSAW — Warsaw was one of several northern Indiana communities that were recently littered with flyers apparently from the Klu Klux Klan.
News Now Warsaw was alerted by two residents who had come across the flyers in the residential yards along part of Center, Market and Min streets.
Sara McNeal Strahan said she discovered some of the flyers while walking her dog on Monday.
“This is extremely disturbing — it’s disturbing for people of color who live in this community,” she said.
One of the flyers urged illegal immigrants to “leave now” and “avoid deportation.”
Another flyer suggests people “track and monitor” illegal immigration and to report cases, with a reference to Jan. 20 — when president-elect Donald Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated for a second term.
The flyers were tucked inside plastic bags with rocks and tossed into residential yards and driveways.
Flyers were also found in Rochester, Goshen and Elkhart, according to several reports.
Public information officers for Warsaw police and Kosciusko County Sherriff’s Office were contacted late Monday afternoon and both said they were unaware of any complaints about such flyers.
The distribution of flyers comes at the same time Trump said he wants to involve the U.S. military in the mass deportation process that he’s proposed after he takes office on Jan. 20.
