The State of Indiana has agreed to delay a decision on whether to temporarily suspend the license of a former Gary funeral home director accused of hiding the bodies of two babies during an inspection. The Board of Funeral and Cemetery Service agreed to a continuance for Benjamin Rawls of Dolton, Illinois, so he can hire an attorney. The board was scheduled to decide whether to suspend Rawls' license for three months while the attorney general's office investigates. Rawls is accused of hiding the babies' remains from state inspectors in the business' ceiling. The Lake County Coroner's Office retrieved the remains from the funeral home in early March.
