A legendary Notre Dame football coach has been hospitalized.
WNDU reports 94-year-old Ara Parseghian is recovering from an infection in a hip in which he has had multiple surgeries.
According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, Parseghian is recovering in a nursing facility near Notre Dame and is receiving IV antibiotics for the infection. He fell ill Sunday.
Ara Parseghian came to South Bend in 1964 and left with a record of 95-17-4, making him the most successful Notre Dame coach of the modern era.
He retired after 11 seasons but stayed in the Michiana area, going into private business and working as a color analyst.
