Former Pulaski County sheriff pleads not guilty

The attorney for a former Pulaski County sheriff accused of stealing guns entered a “not guilty” plea for his client Tuesday morning.

Michael Gayer was indicted by a Grand Jury of seven charges. The testimony from the grand jury proceedings are sealed, but a motion was filed Tuesday morning to unseal them, according to WSBT.

A hearing on the grand jury testimony documents will take place on Oct. 19.

Gayer is charged with two counts of stealing handguns, two counts of official misconduct and obstruction of justice. Gayer left office in 2014, months before his term would have expired.

Former Chief Deputy Ronnie Patrick is charged with four counts of stealing handguns, four counts of official misconduct and obstruction of justice. He’ll be back in court on his charges on Oct. 11.
