Four of Warsaw’s park areas will soon have a warning system to protect against the threat of lightning.
An iStrike lightning alert system is being purchased using a $19,000 grant from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
The Times-Union reports the service will be installed at Center Lake beach, Pike Lake beach, the Pike Lake campground, and Glover Pavilion.
The system will send text alerts to park officials based on National Weather Service information. It also has an alarm that will warn park-goers to seek shelter.
The equipment is expected to be ready for use in August.
