WINONA LAKE – A recent week-long engineering camp was successful at Grace College as a fully enrolled camp of 20 middle school students worked with engineering students.
Campers attended the first annual interactive event held July 15th-19th, where they were able to learn about 3D printers, experimented with air cannons, built CO2 race cars and were able to hear from some industry professionals.
Grace College is taking strides in the STEM area, with the event being one of those big steps in a direction the college is going. Department of Engineering Chair Dr. Fred Wentorf led the camp for the students. Wentorf stated that his mission for Grace Engineering is to “educate the next generation of engineers and to connect to the community. We want to expose kids to careers in STEM who otherwise would not consider it an option… engineering is fun and attainable for you.”
