The Gary man charged in the deaths of two women and accused in five other slayings is due back in court. Darren Vann is scheduled to appear before a judge at 10 a.m., Wednesday to face murder charges in the deaths of 19-year-old Afrikka Hardy and 35-year-old Anith Jones. Hardy’s body was found Friday in a Hammond motel. Jones’ body was found Saturday in an abandoned Gary home. This appearance comes one week after Vann refused to even speak during his initial hearing in the Hardy case. He was cited for contempt and the judge re-scheduled that hearing to take place tomorrow morning.
