Over $9,000 was raised in two days to support the funeral expenses and other costs for the family of a 2-year-old girl allegedly beaten to death by her mother’s boyfriend.
Adalin Stamper, 2, was found buried in the backyard of a house at 1835 Sue Ave., Warsaw, Friday morning.
According to a GoFundMe page by Kim Ringer Harley, Adalin’s mother, Katie Stamper, works but has no life or health insurance to cover the costs.
As of this morning, the GoFundMe account has raised $9,700 so far. The page states that money not used for the funeral will be put in a trust fund account for Katie and her other daughter.
“The community has really got behind this family,” John Sadler, McHatton–Sadler Funeral Home director, said. The funeral home donates its services in infant deaths, he said.
American Legion Post 49 also will hold a benefit for Katie Stamper on Dec. 3, Josie Ryan, Post assistant club manager, said. The event will start with a Texas Hold ’Em Poker tournament at 10 a.m. A silent auction will be from 4 to 8 p.m., and a spaghetti supper is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All proceeds will go to Katie Stamper, Ryan said. Individuals can bring donations for the auction to the Legion or call Ryan at 574–267–5549.
The Post also will hold a candlelight vigil from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Center Lake Park.
