Granger Woman Charged In Connection To House Explosion

A woman has been charged in connection to an explosion at her Granger home back in June. 51 year-old Michelle Ellenberger has been charged with three counts of arson resulting in bodily injury and one count of criminal mischief. According to court documents, Ellenberger was trying to kill herself at her home in the 51-thousand block of Jodie Lynn Drive. Two vehicles in the garage of the home were running with the garage door closed. The gas knobs on the stove were turned… And a gas supply line in the basement had been manually unscrewed. The home was filling with gas when a female relative and acquaintance arrived. They found Ellenberger on a couch. The relative went to the kitchen to turn off the gas coming from the stove when the explosion happened. All three were treated for minor injuries, as was an officer who responded to the scene. In addition to the charges, Ellenberger has been ordered not to contact any of the victims. She is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on 10-thousand dollars bond and is believed to be a flight risk.
