A developer is bringing a new project to Elkhart County aimed at reducing the environmental impact of dairy farms and helping develop a new green energy source. The project, called Green Cow Power, is a $7 million dollar facility near Goshen that'll turn cow manure into electricity. It's not the first in the state, but it'll be the largest when it goes online sometime in September. Brian Furrer is building the facility and he figures when it's up to full strength it'll be turning cow pies into 3 mega watts of power every hour. Indiana runs on coal power. The Obama administration is trying to eliminate it. Regardless of how that fight ends up, Furrer says this is one mechanism that’s going to help.
