Gregory “Greg” Earl Evans

Gregory “Greg” Earl Evans of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 9:59 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 69.

He was born on July 21, 1952 in Warsaw, Indiana to Earl Leroy Evans and Betty J. (Galbreath) Evans.  Greg was a 1972 graduate of Whitko High School in South Whitley, Indiana.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 11, 1972 and proudly served until his honorable discharge on September 10, 1974.

Greg lived most of his life in Kosciusko County, Indiana and worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons (now LSC Communications) in Warsaw, Indiana for over 50 years.  Working in a factory is hard work and he loved it.  At the time of his passing he was still working as a hoistman.  He always had a good attitude towards his work ethic; he was reliable, punctual, worked well with others and paid attention to detail.  Greg was a hard worker and could always be counted on to show up.  He hated taking time off from work except one time he took off for eleven days to go on a cruise…and he earned and deserved that experience of a lifetime.  Everyone who knew Greg would describe him as frugal; Greg was not wasteful and knew how to be a good steward with his earnings.  He loved all kinds of sports but very much enjoyed watching I.U. Basketball.  Most of all he loved his family and adored his grandchildren.  Greg was one of a kind and will be forever loved and missed by his family and by those fortunate enough to have known him.

On August 19, 2011 he was married to Lana Kay (Leek) O’Connell Evans, who survives in Warsaw, Indiana.  He leaves behind his son:  Patrick (Julie) O’Connell (Mentone, Indiana); two daughters:  Jillian (Daniel) Allis (Fort Wayne, Indiana); and April (Frank) Vaccaro (Mishawaka, Indiana).  Also surviving are ten grandchildren:  Alaina (Tanner) Neeley; Lexi (Jacob) Lisenby; Patrick O’Connell;  Leona, Landen, and Jackson Zwick; Anthony, Joseph, Nicholas and Karina Vaccaro; brother:   Michael (Carole) Evans (Chattanooga, Tennessee); two sisters:  Rebecca Huff (Ft. Myers, Florida); and ReNae Feldman (Warsaw, Indiana).  He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty in 2000 and his father, Earl in 2018.

Greg’s life will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Envoy Ken Locke of the Salvation Army.  Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw, and active-duty members of the Army Honor Guard.

Memorial donations may be directed to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyland Blvd., Staten Island, NY  10306.
