WARSAW — Habitat for Humanity’s resale store in Warsaw is providing a huge boost for the local organization.
Habitat’s Kosciusko County chapter will celebrate the five-year anniversary of its Resale store on Saturday.
The store relies on donations of house items from the public and then, in turn, sells the items with profits going to future Habitat projects.
Executive Director Ben Logan tells News Now Warsaw revenues from the store have become a key revenue source.
“Over those five years, it actually raised about $300,000 for Habitat. So to put that in perspective, that is two entire houses,” Logan said.
“It’s been an amazing catalyst for growth for us,” he said.
Saturday’s celebration is from 12-7 p.m. at the ReSale Outlet on Corridor Drive in Warsaw. There will be storewide sales, a silent auction, giveaways and food trucks.
Fifteen companies have already donated items for the silent auction and you can preview what will be available by checking out the resale store’s Kosciusko county Facebook page.
The store gets plenty of foot traffic.
“In 2023, our store sold nearly 30,000 items,” said Stephanie Morris, store manager for the ReSale Outlet, said in a recent news release announcing the open house.
Habitat of Kosciusko County recently celebrated construction of two new homes in Claypool this spring and plans to construct two more homes in the county later this year.
Logan was named executive director nearly three years ago and credits a former administration for opening the resale store.
