Indiana State Police are reminding people to stay safe on Halloween. Troopers are asking parents to remind children not to enter the homes or cars of strangers. Police say children should not eat any of their treats until they get home and they can be examined in a well-lit place. Police say people should only eat unopened candies and other treats that are in original wrappers and should inspect fruits. They also advise parents to keep costumes short to prevent trips and falls and recommend using makeup instead of a mask, which can obstruct a child's vision. Police also encourage children to trick-or-treat while it's still light out. Police also are reminding motorists to drive cautiously on Halloween and to watch for children.
